I remember how joyful and satisfying it was to just seek God first. There is nothing like knowing that you are doing what every believer is supposed to do—telling the world about God by sharing your faith with anyone who will listen and engaging in discussions about God and our belief system.
For me, it always ignites the feeling of absolute satisfaction that words can’t even describe. I remember an incident that happened at one of my friend’s houses. That was a few weeks into my recovery from a surgery. (This is a story for another day.)
I got tired of just sitting at home and decided to visit that particular friend. There, I met one of her friends and somehow, we got talking about a faith movie we both watched, and I just sensed that it was an opportunity for me to talk about God from my heart.
My friend started asking me questions based on what I was sharing. I realized it was time for me to open up and be vulnerable about my personal experiences of how God was working in me. I sensed the Holy Spirit leading and guiding me on what to say and how to say it.
In doing that, my friend became relaxed and shared some private questions he had been asking God. As I responded, he became quiet at a point and just listened. At the end, He said that I was the only one who had been able to give him the answers he was seeking. And because of that, he will be open to having more conversations about God.
It blew my mind to see how God was using me to reach out to another soul that felt lost, as I have felt so many times in my life. I loved knowing that I could become a vessel for God to use to reach out to people.
I remembered one question I was able to respond to. It was the question of why God doesn’t just give us the exact answers as we want, at the particular time we want.
The Christian life is not about what we can get from God, but about responding to what He has done for us and continues to do for us. God gave us salvation and eternal life through His son Jesus Christ, who came into this world as a human, lived among us and then suffered and died on the cross just so we can be reconciled to God the Father. The Christian lifestyle should be about living like we have that salvation; a salvation that should be exhibited by how we submit in total obedience to the leadership of God almighty.
If we claim to be believers of the Bible and believe in God, one in three persons, our lifestyle must show that. That is how the world will know that we are Jesus’ followers; Christians.
I will always remember…I hope you do too.
