By the Grace and Love of God, Saint John the Merciful Orthodox Christian community seeks to recognize and venerate the Image of God in each and every person we encounter. The Community greats this challenge through a profound desire to live and act in the Love of Christ to the benefit of all of our sisters and brothers. The community’s ministry is lived in a spirit and manner that is consistent with the ministry of Saint John the Merciful, and many other saints in Christ known for their exemplary pastoral ministry, such as Ss. Maria Skobtsova, Dmitri, John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, Mother Gabrielia, Mother Maria and countless others now of blessed memory, alive in Christ.
Saint John the Merciful Orthodox Christian community seeks to acquire the means to, and then establish a center for pastoral support and ministry in the South East section of the District of Columbia. This center will have at its core a community of believers deriving their spiritual refreshment and salvation from the Heart of the worshipping Body of Christ. Fed by a rich communal spiritual and liturgical life the community will perform or provide direct pastoral support, care, and as possible other resources to those most in need.

The community will work to minister to those in need. It will work to meet those ministerial precepts as outlined by Jesus Christ in the Gospel according to Saint Matthew. Saint John the Merciful will also work practically locally and to facilitate the resources of the Church beyond of local community to address and facilitate the end of HumanTrafficking, or as it has been known until recently, slavery.
